On our Independent monitoring of the school-based deworming programme, with funding from Evidence Action. We monitored school-based deworming program across Lagos that was projected to reach over 1.4 million children and enforcing effective monitoring and evaluation of the deworming and program processes to be carried out. Beginning in March 2021, over 50 consultants of Idmibok International have received training on how to maintain high quality data collection skills, which were utilized across the LGA’s Training days, and main Deworming Day. WHO research indicates that deworming programmes reduce school absenteeism and is one of the most cost-effective means to increasing school participation. “A significant body of evidence shows that deworming works to improve children’s health, well-being, education, and long-term economic future”. (WHO – 2016). We further facilitated a series of pre-and post-intervention, repeat cross-sectional surveys in a representative, stratified, two-stage sample of schools across Lagos State.

School-age children, including headteachers, frontline health workers, and parents of enrolled and non-enrolled children were interviewed on their acceptance and level of receptiveness to the Deworming programme. Post-MDA surveys were conducted with over 1,245 households interviewed within Apapa and Ibeju Lekki LGAs of Lagos State. Children are now reported to be more attentive in their classes and living an overall greater quality of life as a result of the DtW initiative.  Ten high burden Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Lagos State were targeted for deworming with over 100 schools randomly sampled and monitored for Deworming and Post-Deworming activities.
